Choose Canadian Program
When Pork Marketing Canada (PMC) began its consumer marketing campaign there were some key factors that were evident in the Canadian pork industry landscape. Among those factors was the instability in the pork market across the county and also the volume of pork coming in from other countries occupying the meat cases at retail outlets. From its research, PMC recognized that if given the choice, Canadian consumers would choose Canadian products over those from other countries and that the quality of food produced in Canada is viewed as better than food produced in other countries. With this information PMC embarked on a "Choose Canadian" program that provides consumers with an opportunity to choose pork in the meat case that has been clearly labelled with a Canadian Pork sticker. Purchasing Canadian pork supports the local and domestic economies and makes a significant contribution to the nation's trade balance. Below are some elements of our program:
