25 minutes

    • 1 1/4 lbs
      625 g
      Canadian Pork Loin Cutlets, delicated
    • 2 tsp
      10 mL
      EACH butter and canola oil
    • 4 cups
      1 L
      thinly sliced onions
    • garlic powder and pepper to taste
    • 1 Tbsp
      15 mL
    • 4
slices Monterey Jack or Swiss cheese
    • 4
      Kaiser buns

To prepare caramelized onions, heat 2 tsp/10 mL butter and oil in a large skillet. Add onions and sugar. Stir well. Cook slowly over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until onions are soft and golden brown, about 25 minutes. Season cutlets with garlic powder and pepper. Melt 1 Tbsp/15 mL butter in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add cutlets and cook quickly, about 5 minutes per side until nicely browned. Place each on the bottom half of a Kaiser bun. Top each with caramelized onions, a slice of cheese and the remaining bun halves.
